FROM OSAKA , JAPAN

Konnichiwa from Osaka — I’m CHIO.

I’m a Japanese esthetician based in Shinsaibashi, Osaka.

Here, I share the everyday beauty habits, skincare rituals, and approaches we often take for granted in Japan — from the perspective of an esthetician who works with clients every day.

Japanese beauty, explained from inside Japan.

MY STORY

It started with something
I noticed in Osaka.

In recent years, I’ve been so happy to see more and more people from around the world visiting Japan.

Maybe it’s the esthetician in me, but as I walk through Osaka, I can’t help noticing the many ways people care for their skin.

One day, I found myself wondering.

Could the smooth, refined-looking skin I had always considered ordinary in Japan actually be something distinctive?

That made me curious.

Was it the products we use?
The way we cleanse and hydrate?
Our everyday beauty habits?
Or the way we think about caring for our skin over time?

That curiosity led me to look more closely at the routines, habits, and ideas behind J-Beauty.

What felt ordinary to me might be something special to someone outside Japan.

FROM THE TREATMENT ROOM

What working with clients’ skin has taught me.

As an esthetician in Shinsaibashi, I work with clients with many different skin types and concerns.

Dry skin. Oily skin. Sensitive skin. Skin that changes with the seasons, age, stress and everyday life.

Working closely with each client’s skin has taught me something simple:

There is no single skincare routine that is right for everyone.

MY APPROACH TO SKINCARE

Your skin should lead the routine.

Skin changes.

So skincare should change too.

Some days your skin needs more.
Some days it needs less.

I believe good skincare begins with noticing what your skin needs today.

Hydrate first.
Treat second.
Seal only as needed.

Your routine should follow your skin — not the other way around.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

I’m CHIO — from Osaka, Japan.

I live and work in Osaka.

One of the things I love most about sharing Japanese beauty is realizing that something completely ordinary to us in Japan can feel new and interesting to someone on the other side of the world.

Beauty is part of culture, everyday life and the way we care for ourselves.

I hope this little corner of Japan feels like hearing beauty stories from a friend who happens to live here.
